President's Message

Happy Fall,

Redwood Empire Swing Dance Club has a new name — North Bay Swing Dance Club — new logo, new website, newsletter and beginning in 2023 new dance locations. Watch for our Facebook and Instagram pages to soon also display the new name.

Our monthly 4th-Saturday dances will be at two new locations in 2023:

January, February, and March at Breakthrough Dance Studio, 534 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa.  (Many of you know this location which is where Jessica and Jason Taylor hold their Thursday night dances.)   Melissa Rutz, Janelle Guido, and Austin Kois will be our Intermediate teachers and D.J. We will also have a Beginning Lesson that is free.

Starting April, for the rest of the year,  we will be at Monroe Hall.

We are beyond excited!

Your board of directors has worked diligently over the last six months to make these changes.  We have seven board members that are filling multiple positions to keep our club going. I’d like to recognize them individually:

Denise Suzuki – our Secretary and Membership Director, and Dance Committee Chair designed our new logo.  She works tirelessly behind the scenes to help keep the club minutes, send out membership notices and schedule our teachers and DJs for our dances.

David Gordon – our Technology Director and Steering Committee Chair designed our new website and has brought incredible new vision to our club.

Bonita Gordon – our Club President and Marketing Director. She attends all board and committee meetings, sends out the monthly emails announcing the dances, prepares all social media posts and is working on our new Mail Chimp newsletter.

Susan Lombard – our Hospitality Director is the one that brings all those yummy refreshments and coordinates the set up for each dance.

Danny Christian – our Vice President and Activities Director helps coordinate the events, sets up and tears down the music equipment and fills in when the President can’t.

David Pankratz – our Treasurer. He keeps our books straight, and files the necessary legal forms.

Marilyn Carsner – our Juniors Director. She is our liaison with the younger west coast swing dancers.

Edna Lucero – deserves special recognition for her creative genius in preparing the flyers for each one of our dances.
